“I contend that we (engineers) are undervalued because of our widespread
inability to explain what we do to the general public (and why it is so important).
It is one of the hardest goals to accomplish, to be able to boil down difficult
concepts into a short and easily understood presentation or elevator pitch.”

Interpretation of Quotation:
As engineers, it is vital to be able to explain your concepts and messages in a concise and accurate manner to the general public. It highlights the need for engineers to thoroughly understand their work, to be able to articulate their product when any questions arise, and assure the public that they have taken all measures to ensure safety and prevent any harm that may occur. This will ensure that the public will have faith in engineers, which will allow for a greater sense of co-operation on future projects.
The interpretation is very insightful and I can tell that you were able to understand the quote itself and hopefully be able to use in your life. I agree the best way is for us engineer is to be concise and accurate so that whatever product we come up with will be easy for non engineers to understand it.
ReplyDeleteI find the content very relevant as it fully interprets all aspects of the quote. However, I personally do not really understand the mention on safety in relation to the quote. Other than that, the organisation is clear and is coherent and is generally a good interpretation of the quote.
